I have brought many hand bags since I started college and I now own a pretty extensive collection ranging from every day use to party clutches. Brands such as Coach, Rebecca Minkoff, Foley & Corinna, Gucci, Lauren Merkin, and Hart. Some of these brands are popular while others you might never have heard of. When I love a specific brand, I would love it so much that I would own several bags by that brand.
I’ll start off with the latest addition in my collection from Lavina Joe called Hart. This specific one is the Artery Mini and I also got the Baby Pouch. It comes in Classic Red and Retro Brown. I felt instantly in love with the bag when I saw the Kickstarter project. (Kickstarter is a website that gives people “A new way to fund creative projects.” Anything from food to electronics.) The classic red is sooo beautiful. The leather used for it was super soft. I don’t own any red handbags, this is my first one. It match perfectly with a lot of classic and simple looks.
I almost wore it to my cousin’s wedding. However, my friend, Wendy felt like it’s not sophisticated/lady enough to match the dress for the evening, therefore I didn’t use it.
However, I did use it when I went to see Matilda with my co-workers. This handbag is not yet out to the public yet. The Kickstarter project took place in April 2013. I received it in July. It will be retailing for $129.
My current favorite handbag brand is Foley and Corinna! I own 3 of their bags and some of their clothings. Foley and Corinna use leathers that wears off in a nice way. Great quality. The last Foley and Corinna bag I brought was from last year’s Lucky Shops NYC Event. Definitely going to try to get free admissions tickets again this year.
I brought this beautiful teal Jet Set Mini at a discount price. I love the color! Retails for $425. The first feature that capture my eyes were the buckle strap detail. I love things with buckles, studs and zippers. I also never saw a bag with a double turnlock closure. It’s a nice approach instead of the usual magnetic button. If it had a zipper inside it would had been perfect. It’s a good size to carry basic essentials. You can still get this style on their website for a discounted price, here but not in this color.
I believe this Navy Blue Mid City Tote was the first Foley and Corinna bag I brought. It is their most well known/popular style. Many other companies had copied this shape but Foley and Corinna still does it the best.
I have it in this beautiful navy color which I don’t see being sold anymore. Foley and Corinna’s Mid City Tote in this size are retailed for $395. Here is one in a blue color they call azure. I brought mines at a sample sale for a very reasonable discounted price. The new ones they make have an extra detail on the cross-body strap. You can carry this bag as a cross-body, on the shoulder or mid-arm. When you carry it as a cross-body it would cut the inside space in half because the top would fold over. Not a lot of people like the open top but I don’t mind it so much. It goes great with a casual chic look.
I used the Triple Decker Zipper Bag the most, it’s has a very worn out look now. It’s the perfect size for light school days. It can easily fit a folder and a notebook. I don’t think Foley and Corinna make this bag anymore. I have it in this purple, the color haven’t really faded but gives off a distress look. It retailed for $395.
I brought it with the Mid City Tote at a sample sale. I just love the zippers. In the back of the bag, it has a big pocket with a magnetic-snap closure. I prefer using the single handle over the cross-body strap.
Another brand that I liked was Lauren Merkin. They sells bags that are a bit more sophisticated and mature; every day handbags and also a lot of party clutches. I used to own 2 every day handbags by Lauren Merkin but they were utterly destroyed by PENS! I had click pens in the bag and they leaked and ruined the inside of the bag and pen marks on the outside too. So BEWARE of the pens you carry! (If someone can think of a way to clean pen marks on leather it will be awesome!)
First one on the left is a Midnight Blue Louise or Eve Clutch. It retails for $225. I really like the shiny metallic look to it, it’s not overly blingy or glam, but it has a subtle elegance to it while maintaining a bit of edge. I have not been able to match it with any dress yet.
The next one is a Natural Beige Diana clutch. It also retails for $225. I believe it’s the older version of the Diana clutches. It come with a chain strap now while the version I have were a braided rope strap. Same goes for the black Diana clutch on the far right. I had used the black one at my best friend’s wedding a few years ago. A perfect compliment with any color dress. As always, black matches everything! They can only fit very small essentials such as your phone and a lipstick.
The whitish clutch is the Natural Linen/Lizard Embossed Ingrid. It is slightly bigger then the other clutches. You can fit an average size novel inside. It also have an inside pocket, an inside zip pocket and detachable wrist strap. Perfect to carry on small errands. Which hangbag out of this post is your favorite?
This is only a portion of my collection. Will continue about them in my next blog entry. Stay tune!!
